Hey Bozo…signal your intentions!

I am constantly amazed how many drivers fail to use their car’s turn signals anymore. The number of times I have sat waiting for cross traffic to clear and have been delayed unnecessarily as some Bozo fails (or refuses) to use their turn signal seems to have grown exponentially in the past  few years. Did they stop teaching turn signal use in driver’s education?  I doubt it.

What I have noticed is nearly every driver who fails to use their turn signal is on a damn cell phone. The more I thought about it, there has to be a correlation – most of us are right-handed, so it is natural that we will tend to use our right hand to steer the car while on a cell phone. And guess which side the turn signal is on you steering wheel – the left side, which is the hand you are holding the cell phone with.

Perhaps, automobile manufacturer’s need to rethink the positioning of the turn signals – perhaps buttons on the steering wheel or on the dashboard. Another option is to require hands free cell phones for drivers. Lastly, simple consideration for others by drivers would be a welcome change. It is one thing to have a dropped signal on a phone, it is a much more dangerous thing to stop using your turn signals on the streets, roads, avenues, highways, byways, and expressways.

  1. This design is spectacular! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
