The criteria used to determine this list (some of which are being debated vigorously on the Advocate.com Facebook page) are presented in the following chart:
I must say that the city that was determined to be number one was a surprise to me. Nice to see two Michigan cities make the list, though the recent repeal of domestic partner benefits by a narrow-minded legislature and Governor may impact their standing in future polls. Here’s the list:
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Orlando, Florida
- Cambridge, Massachusetts
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Seattle, Washington
- Ann Arbor, Michigan
- Twin Cities, Minnesota
- Knoxville, Tennessee
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Grand Rapids, Michigan
- Little Rick, Arkansas
- Portland, Oregon
- Austin, Texas
- Long Beach, California
- Denver, Colorado
- Washington, DC
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- San Francisco, California
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Salem, Oregon
- Madison, Wisconsin
- Eugene, Oregon
- Oakland, California
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Kansas City, Missouri
