Cultural richness can be dangerous

Each year as the running of bulls begins in Pamplona, Spain, much of the world media highlights the mounting list of injuries that take place. In addition, I will occasionally hear people comment on how stupid the participants are.

Granted, running with charging bulls along and through narrow cobblestone streets is not my idea of fun, nor do I care for how bulls are treated in bullfight rings at all. But, can those who say that running with the bulls is stupid really say that it is any more dangerous than the following cultural traditions and sports from around the world?
