At the end of the post are some photos from our visit Monday evening to the inspiring Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in beautiful Redding, California. What a terrific urban park setting along both sides of the magnificent and very swiftly flowing Sacramento River.
Given the number of people we observed walking, jogging, biking, skate-boarding, or relaxing, the bridge and park are a proven success. We were not the only out-of-state visitors there, as those in the area to see Mt. Shasta or Lassen Volcanic National Park can spend a few relaxing hours in Redding.
The bridge carries the Sacramento River Trail over its namesake on a clear/plexiglass deck that illuminates from underneath at night (see photo below).
Other sights in the park include the Visitor’s Center, an arboretum, an aquarium, and the Redding Convention Center. The entire Turtle Bay complex was very impressive to this urban planner from the Midwest. Many kudos to Redding and its citizens for creating a truly inspiring urban park.
So glad you enjoyed your trip and thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story! – Jen from the Visitors Bureau 🙂
