Here’s the totally useless unscientific bicycle statistical survey from our vacation drive on Tuesday, August 7th from Redding to Eureka along California 299 and from Eureka to Crescent City on U.S. 101.

  • Number of miles driven: approx. 220
  • Number of vehicles with bikes seen: 18
  • Average miles between vehicles with bikes: 12.2 miles
  • Average bike carrying vehicles per mile: 0.081

  • In trailer: 0 vehicles
  • Rear hitch/trunk mounted bikes: 13 vehicles
  • Average bikes per vehicle: approx 2.5-3.0
