“Skyfall” – Best Bond flick ever?

Source: forbes.com

Perhaps. Skyfall certainly will rank in the top five among many, if not most James Bond fans. Only time will tell whether it is considered the very best. Personally, I believe it could reach that threshold. Up until seeing Skyfall yesterday, my five favorite James Bond films were:

You Only Live Twice
The Living Daylights

Today, I would put Skyfall in the top position, but with time for reflection, comparison, and further viewings, my ranking may change.

What I enjoyed most about Skyfall was the depth of the characters and the story line. Sure, the concept of one of their own going rogue has been covered before – most recently in Goldeneye. But, this time it was much more personal and vindictive.

Daniel Craig and Judy Dench are simply marvelous in Skyfall. Albert Finney, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Ralph Fiennes are excellent additions in their strong supporting roles. Meanwhile, Javier Bardem is terrific in his demented and sinister role as Silva. I would like Daniel Craig stay in the role of James Bond for more films as he brings some dynamic and previously unseen nuances to this amazing movie character.

In the end it will be up to each fan on which Bond flick is their favorite. I have a feeling that Skyfall will be at or near the top of many lists. Enjoy!
