Over ‘hill’ and ‘dale’ on the North Country Trail

Kathy and I hiked another gorgeous segment of the North Country Trail this afternoon (Sunday) in Hillsdale County, Michigan. The 3.25 mile segment passes through the rolling terrain of the Pittsford State Game Area in southern Hillsdale County, just a few miles north of the Ohio border.

Similar to the segment hiked two weeks ago in Barry County, Michigan, we trekked through a fascinating variety of ecosystems. Today’s trip passed through beech-maple, oak, and pine forests; riverine wetlands, open meadows, thicket, and pine woods. Below are some of the many photos we took during our enjoyable hike.
