The image below is a satellite photograph of the Cananea Copper Mine in the northern Mexico state of Sonora. As the old adage states, “a picture says a thousand words.” In this case, most of those  words would be negative.

Our lifestyles and consumer decisions do matter, as does our inaction in requiring safer, healthier, cleaner, and more ecologically responsible hard-rock mining techniques, whether it be in Mexico, the United States, or anywhere else in the world.
