We watched Short Term 12 on Netflix last weekend and were impressed by this remarkable film. The movie is about a temporary treatment facility for troubled teens nicknamed “Short Term 12.” The film is raw, intense, funny, inspiring, heartbreaking, and above all, powerful. Each of the primary characters were superb, but Brie Larson in particular, should have received an Oscar nod for her gritty lead performance as Grace.

I was also impressed by Kaitlyn Dever, who kept me trying to remember where I had seen her before, as I watched the film. Not until I checked IMDb did it click that she is Tim Allen’s youngest daughter in the television comedy Last Man Standing. John Gallagher, Jr. was also excellent as Mason. His timely, unique, and insightful storytelling bookends this fine, fine film.

If you get an opportunity to watch Short Term 12, please do, because you will not be disappointed. Cheers!
