Longest large city names without duplicate letters

Source: lbcityguide.com

Using the web I was able to identify 114 cities (some with the same name) with a minimum population of 100,000, which have at least eight (8) English alphabet letters that do not repeat. The list is provided below.

Any additions or corrections are welcome – obviously with each new Census and/or estimate, the cities included could change – some either falling off due to a population loss or being added due to growth. In certain instances, cities could change due to renaming, merging, or amalgamation.

Criteria for inclusion were the following:

  • Minimum 100,000 population in the core city.
  • Minimum eight (8) letters in length.
  • Using the English variation of each city name’s spelling.

The list identifies cities from 41 nations and all six populated continents. Countries with the most cities included are:

  1. United States = 16
  2. China = 15
  3. Canada = 7
  4. Russia = 6
  5. Germany and Ukraine = 5 each
  6. India, Philippines, and UK = 4 each
